2002 AVUHSD Classified Employee of the Year:
Ron Slack, Data Services Specialist

The 2002 Classified Employee of the Year is Ron Slack. Ron has been with the
Antelope Valley Union High School District for 10 years. He serves as the
District’s data Services Specialist. He was one of two computer technicians
employed by the district 10 years ago. Since that time, Ron has been an integral
part of the growth of technology throughout the district. Through continuing
training and professional growth, Ron is able to find solutions to a myriad
of complex computer problems in a variety of platforms and programs. Ron assists
workers at the District Office with critical computer functions such as the
inventory and accounting system, including the warehouse system. He also assists
school sites whenever necessary. Whether working with the most frustrated
beginning computer user or with the most advanced and technically intricate
program user, he always performs his job with a smile and pleasant attitude.
For this, Ron was twice named the District Office Classified Employee of the
Year in prior years. The Classified Employee of the Year committee had a felt
he truly deserved to be named the Antelope Valley Union High School District’s
2002 Classified Employee of the Year.
Site Classified Employees of the Year, 2002:
The following individuals were nominated by staff, supervisors or community
for
outstanding contributions to the district, students or profession. Regardless
of outcome, it is an honor to be nominated. Out of all nominations received,
site's committee of peers had the difficult task of selecting each to represent
their high school site as Site Classified Employees of the Year for 2002.
From this group of outstanding employees, one is selected to represent the
entire district as the 2002 Classified Employee of the Year.

2001 Classified Employee of the Year: Dale Carlson,
Quartz Hill High School Maintenance I
"Mr. Dale Carlson is known to be an individual with an exemplary work
ethic and one who displays the highest degree of professionalism. Dale is
will respected by classified staff members as well as teachers and administrators
for the excellent work performed daily.
Dale works at a consistently high level of productivity. He takes pride in
his work and demonstrates a sense of ownership and responsibility for Quartz
Hill High School. During the energy crisis, Dale was on-call and has worked
many nights and weekends to ensure that the needs of staff and students have
been met for regular school days as well as night time activities and games."
