Attendance Policy

Regional Occupational Programs

One of the objectives of Regional Occupational Programs is to prepare students for entry level jobs in career technical areas.  To do this, it is important that all ROP courses teach and reinforce work ethics.  The work ethic of being dependable is an essential element of success in any workplace.  The ROP attendance policy has been adopted to help students develop and strengthen their workplace skills.

  1. Students will be able to miss a maximum of five classes during a semester.  This includes excused and unexcused absences.

  2. After five absences, the student may have the opportunity to make up the work.  This will depend on the individual teacher.

  3. High School students are required to bring a note from a parent or guardian to the ROP teacher to excuse their absence.  The parent or guardian can also call the teacher to excuse the absence.

  4. Three tardies will be equal to one absence.  The time duration that a student will be considered tardy is 15 minutes after class has begun.

  5. Three instances of leaving early will be equal to one absence.

  6. High school students will not be permitted to leave early without a written excuse from a parent or guardian.  This includes day and evening classes.  The teacher will have the option to verify this information with a phone call to the students’ home.

  7. Individual classes and teachers may have additional attendance policies  that will affect a student’s grade and credit for a class.
